Across Carrowen collections, natural wood, stone, metal, and woven materials are selected for their distinctive texture, tonal depth, and performance in everyday living. Rather than seeking perfect uniformity, we embrace the natural qualities that make each material—and each piece—individual.
NATURAL WOOD
GRAIN, TEXTURE & TONAL DEPTH
Oak, walnut, ash, burl, and other woods appear throughout our collections, selected according to the structure, finish, and character of each design.
Natural wood may reveal variations in grain, knots, mineral streaks, tone, and texture. These characteristics are part of the material itself and mean that no two pieces will appear exactly alike.
Finishes are selected to complement the wood while allowing its natural character to remain visible.
NATURAL STONE
FORMED BY NATURE
Marble and other natural stones are defined by variation.
Veining, mineral deposits, tonal shifts, crystalline details, and subtle surface markings develop naturally as stone forms. Their placement and intensity will differ from one slab to another.
These variations are not considered defects. They are part of what distinguishes natural stone from manufactured surfaces and give each piece its individual character.
METAL
DETAIL, CONTRAST & PATINA
Metal brings structure, contrast, and refinement to many Carrowen designs.
Depending on the piece, brass and other metal finishes may be used for hardware, accents, frames, or structural details.
Subtle variations in tone and surface character may occur, particularly with hand-applied or hand-finished surfaces. Over time, some metals may also develop a natural patina as they interact with their environment.
WOVEN & TACTILE MATERIALS
TEXTURE YOU CAN FEEL
Woven fibers, paper cord, textiles, and other tactile materials introduce softness and visual depth alongside wood, stone, and metal.
Natural variation in weave, fiber, texture, and tone gives these materials their character and creates subtle differences from one piece to another.
DESIGNED TO BE LIVED WITH
Natural materials change subtly with time, use, light, and environment.
